Art In The Desert

Drawing, painting and sculpting are all forms of art that I have enjoyed doing all my life.  I knew that someday, I wanted to be an artist.  I just did not know that I would not get to pursue my dream until much later in life.

I spent 26 years in the orthodontic field in conjunction with continuing my painting on the side.  I began to focus on painting portraits as a result of working closely with patients and observing profiles and faces.  I wanted to translate that knowledge of anatomy to canvas.

When I came to live in Arizona, I was inspired to capture the rugged weathered faces of the American Indians and cowboys with their years of struggle etched in the lines of their faces.  I paint in a realistic style in the hope that the viewer will share in my vision of the wonderful human beings that they are.  The ways of the West are slowly fading into history and I, like other Western painters, want to preserve it in the way that inspires us the most.........on canvas.
